Details of U.S. ARMAMENT CORP. 1877 BULLDOG REPRODUCTION (NO. 34)
The Bulldog was first introduced in 1877 by Colt and revolutionized hand-cranked gatling guns by enclosing the barrels and breech in a bronze housing and adding in a 40-round vertical feed mechanism that allowed ammunition to be more easily loaded. The Bulldog also boasted an exceedingly low weight of only 90 pounds for the 5-barreled version when used with a tripod, a massive upgrade over its predecessors that could weigh as much as 600 pounds unloaded. The Bulldogs are chambered in .45-70 Government which was the standard cartridge of the US Military at the time. The Bulldog has since been faithfully reproduced by U.S. Armament Corp., incorporating many of the factory markings that would have been seen on the original Colt-manufactured models. These were believed to have been produced in a limited quantity of only 50 models in 2009 in collaboration with Colt and were available as both tripod and wheeled variants. The reproduction features features 18.25-inch barrels with a 1:22 twist. This model is a wheeled variant and has a production number of 34. It has been put on display but only has very minor handling marks and has not been fired or previously owned and would be considered to be in NEW condition. There is a minor tarnish mark underneath the brass housing from storage in the crate. One Colt-branded storage crate in pristine condition for the firearm is included.
